Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Pile Driving Project - Phase II Study

Status:  Complete
Report Date:  05/01/2014

Summary:

Researchers reevaluated the pile driving formula and associated load resistance factors developed in Phase 1 of this study, compared its performance to other pile driving formulas, and recommended a new formula and resistance factors for implementation by MnDOT. The new pile driving formula developed in this study, MPF12, correlated very well, far outperforming all other equations. Researchers also conducted static load testing, investigated use of the formula for timber and prestressed precast concrete piles, and compared its predictions to the Wave Equation Analysis Program.
