Roadway Pavement Maintenance 101: Phase 1

Status:  Complete
Report Date:  01/29/2025

Summary:

The project team developed 10 questions that were distributed to all 50 state transportation agencies through AASHTO. Based on the information received in the survey, the researchers recommended a Smooth Roads Committee Charter (attached as Appendix A), meant to serve as the basis for policy, development, and decisions made by MnDOT management, maintenance leaders, and staff. The goals and action items provide a foundation for solving problems and seizing opportunities for sustained growth and change. Achieving that vision for MnDOT depends on S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely) goals supported by staff.
