Evaluation of Guide Sign Fonts Status: CompleteReport Date: 02/19/2014 Summary: Researchers funded through multi-state pooled fund TPF-5(262) evaluated the field performance of the Clearview 5W, E-Modified [E(Mod)] and Enhanced E(Mod) highway sign fonts to see if one font provided better legibility, especially at night. Using a closed-course test track, they found no statistical difference between the legibility of fonts, but concluded that luminance levels for the test were not enough to cause the halation effect that would lead to such differences.
