Optimizing Aggregate Foundation to Improve Concrete Pavement Performance Status: CompleteReport Date: 08/12/2015 Summary: This project evaluated how aggregate base properties affect concrete pavement performance in an effort to optimize those properties. A 1.4 gravel-to-sand ratio for aggregate bases produced the best combination of drainability and stability. Open graded aggregate bases reduced subsurface moisture relative to dense graded bases, but produced similar structural stability.
