Estimation of Winter Snow Operation Performance Measures with Traffic Data Status: CompleteReport Date: 12/28/2012 Summary: This project represented the initial attempt to develop an automated procedure to use traffic flow data rather than snowplow driver observations to determine when roads are clear enough to stop plowing after a snow event. This procedure could provide service at reduced costs by deploying snowplows more efficiently. While promising, the procedure is not yet ready for wide deployment. Final Deliverables: Estimation of Winter Snow Operation Performance Measures With Traffic Data (Report #2012-40) A Data-Driven Method for Determining Road Recovery Times After Snowfall (Research Summary) Related Materials: Related Research: Automatically Measuring Traffic Recovery Times After Snowstorms Developing a Road Condition Recovery Time Estimation System for Snow Events
