TRS: Consolidated Asset Management for Minnesota Local Agencies Status: CompleteReport Date: 06/30/2016 Summary: Transportation agencies are increasingly turning their attention to transportation asset management (TAM), a systematic process for tracking the conditions of physical infrastructure to make better decisions about maintenance. TAM is mandated by the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) and can also help justify funding to the public and elected officials. The Minnesota Local Road Research Board (LRRB) requested a state-of-practice inquiry of local and state agency Transportation Asset Management Plans (TAMPs), involving the tracking and management of highway and street infrastructure, facilities, vehicles and major equipment assets in a single, consolidated management system. This Transportation Research Synthesis is intended to serve as a first, information-gathering step toward development of a guide for Minnesota local agencies to assist in the creation of TAMPs.
