Transportation Investment and Economic Development in Minnesota Counties Status: CompleteReport Date: 04/13/2015 Summary: Using data about local road and trunk highway investments and property tax capacity and receipts, researchers calculated that investments in both local roads and trunk highways produce significant economic benefits. While the impact of local roads is primarily felt in the community where the road is built, trunk highways produce an average of $3 of economic benefit per $1 invested, and those benefits are experienced throughout a region.
