Rumble Stripe: Evaluation of Retroreflectivity and Installation Practices Status: CompleteReport Date: 04/15/2016 Summary: MnDOT research shows that retroreflectivity in pavement rumble stripes varies significantly from installation to installation. Variation in measured retroreflectivity stems from methods for embedding reflective beading in stripes during installation, and many new installations fail to meet minimum specifications for retroreflectivity in all directions of travel. Requiring contractors to measure retroreflectivity after installation can ensure careful application of beads, leading to higher reflectivity values initially and over time Final Deliverables: Rumble Stripe: Evaluation of Retroreflectivity and Installation Practices (Report #2016-13) Reflectivity of Glass Beads in Rumble Stripes Depends on Installation Practices (Research Summary) Related Materials: Related Research:
