Asphalt Pavement Design – Synthesis of Tools and Resources

Status:  Active
Project Start Date:  05/19/2025

Summary:

Pavement design is a critical aspect of a local agency’s highway engineering tasks. Local agency engineers have several options in design processes to choose from with different pros and cons, depending on the conditions. Creating a document that outlines these pros and cons along with practical guidance on different regulations (federal, state aid, etc.) will support local practitioners in selecting the best tool for any given project. This is also pertinent given different contextual needs (new build vs. preservation, etc.)
