Researchers examined four aspects of winter maintenance: anti-icer persistence in the face of actual traffic, deicer effectiveness, plow effectiveness and the effect of pavement on anti-icer persistence. Results indicate that truck traffic associated with deicer use and distribution may have a significant impact on winter maintenance performance.
