Researchers evaluated an innovative technique for repairing the damaged ends of prestressed, reinforced concrete bridge girders with a reinforcement cage and hydraulic cement. The repair method appeared to work well in the field, but the technique had not been scientifically analyzed. Lab testing of repaired and unrepaired prestressed, reinforced girders from the same bridge and manufacturing batch showed that the repair method restored damaged girders to their previous shear strength
