Portable Weigh-in-Motion System Evaluation

Summary:

Two phases of field tests of a portable weigh-in-motion system found that it is suitable for real-world implementation. The system is relatively inexpensive and easy to install; can be calibrated with vehicles owned by most counties; and measures traffic volumes, speeds, vehicle classifications and weight accurately enough to generate useful data for screening and planning purposes.
