Researchers demonstrated that full-depth reclamation (FDR) is a superior option for pavement rehabilitation and can be tested and modeled by the same methods as regular asphalt. FDR outperforms traditional mill-and-overlay rehabilitation in cost and durability over a 35-year period, and will also certainly reduce delays and costs for road users. However, field compaction of recycled asphalt mixtures can probably be improved. This study puts the development of FDR performance-based specifications within reach.
