Optimizing the Use of Recycled Asphalt in Minnesota RoadsStatus: CompleteReport Date: 05/29/2013 Summary: Researchers evaluated the performance of high recycled asphalt pavement mixtures (those with more than 30 percent RAP) by evaluating their field performance; the blending of RAP with virgin aggregate in the plant and laboratory; and low-temperature strength, creep and fracture energy. Results showed an improvement in using PG-34 binder rather than PG-28 binder with RAP, good activation in plant mixing and less crack resistance with higher amounts of RAP.
