Quantifying Moisture Effects in DCP and LWD Tests Using Unsaturated Mechanics

Quantifying Moisture Effects in DCP and LWD Tests Using Unsaturated MechanicsStatus:  Complete
Report Date:  03/13/2014

Summary:

Researchers developed computer models to assess the variability of dynamic cone penetrometer and lightweight deflectometer test results with differing amounts of moisture and fine particles. One of these models can be used to predict behavior for a relatively narrow range of base materials encompassed by MnDOT's Class 5 specifications, but can be expanded to other materials with some improvements.
