Anchorage of Shear Reinforcement in Prestressed Concrete Bridge GirdersStatus: CompleteReport Date: 11/05/2014 Summary: Researchers conducted laboratory testing of both partial girder sections and full-scale prestressed girders to determine whether the straight-legged stirrup design used in MnDOT prestressed concrete girders adequately anchors the transverse reinforcement in the beams to resist shear forces. Results showed that MnDOT's straight-legged stirrups are well-anchored and provide more than adequate shear resistance, which will allow MnDOT to save costs on implementing a more expensive bent-legged stirrup design. Final Deliverables: Anchorage of Shear Reinforcement in Prestressed Concrete Bridge Girders (Report #2014-36) MnDOT's Concrete Bridge Girder Design Proves Safe and Less Expensive (Research Summary) Related Materials: Related Research:
