Best Practices in Pavement Design for Design-Build Projects

Summary:

MnDOT has been using design-build contracting on certain transportation construction projects for several years. Design-build has not been used on pavement construction, but MnDOT is interested in expanding its design-build program to include pavement in the near future. Through a survey of other states' design-build managers and follow-up interviews with selected respondents, this research synthesizes best practices in the use of design-build contracting in transportation projects that include a pavement design component.
