Development of a Process for Quantifying the Benefits of Research Status: CompleteReport Date: 07/31/2017 Summary: Researchers worked closely with MnDOT technical experts to identify methods for quantifying the benefits of MnDOT research projects. The study then developed a seven-step process for quantifying research benefits and pilot-tested the process on 11 recent projects. Results showed that the 11 projects were yielding significant financial benefits. MnDOT now requests, in its research proposal award process, that investigators attempt to quantify the benefits expected from their research activities.
