Mini-Roundabout FAQsStatus: CompleteReport Date: 07/29/2024 Summary: Roundabouts have been effective at increasing safety and efficiency of vehicle traffic. Traditional roundabout design typically requires a larger “footprint” than a traditional four-way intersection. More local agencies are implementing “mini roundabouts,” a type of roundabout characterized by a small diameter and fully traversable islands (central island and splitter islands). The focus of this implementation project is an FAQ document that defines and educates local agencies on use of mini and compact roundabouts, provides selection criteria on when to use, and synthesizes and provides easy navigation to technical information.
