Implementation of Geogrids During Pavement Design and ConstructionStatus: CompleteReport Date: 07/29/2016 Summary: Geogrids are used by highway agencies in base layers as a means of enhancing flexible pavement performance. Mechanistic-empirical pavement design provides a methodology for the analysis and prediction of pavement performance. Design procedures and construction specifications need to be modified to fully accommodate the utilization of geogrids during pavement design and construction. Two national projects were created to resolve uncertainty, facilitate greater acceptance and quantify the influence of geogrids on pavement performance. These projects, as well as completed MnDOT and Local Road Research Board funded projects, provide a basis for quantifying the influence of geogrids on pavement performance.
