National Partnership to Improve the Quality of Preventative Maintenance Treatment Construction and Data Collection Practices

Status:  Active
Project Start Date:  03/08/2024

Summary:

Proper use of pavement preservation treatments can effectively maintain or improve pavement condition and extend pavement life. The findings from this research will benefit state and local agencies by providing information relating to the construction and performance of various pavement preservation treatments. The research will guide agencies in the selection, construction, and documentation of new pavement preservation projects to help achieve good performance through the use of best practices. Data collection and analysis of field performance of existing sections constructed during Phases I and II, as well as new sections from Phase III, will allow to continue the development of deterioration curves for use in pavement management. Quantification of life-extending and condition-improving benefits will assist agencies in their decision-making process to obtain cost-effective preservation solutions for their specific site conditions.
