Seal Coats: Synthesis of Minnesota Research

Summary:

Although seals coats were once touted as one of the best cost-effective preventive maintenance treatments within the toolbox, they now seem to be one of the more polarizing. The focus of this study will be to review and synthesize previous research, conduct interviews, and develop a quick reference guide that assists city and county engineers to help address their questions: Are chip seal coats beneficial? What are the pros/cons of chip sealing? And when is chip sealing optimal?
