Safety Rest Area Advance Signing Enhancements - Phase 2 Design Status: CompleteProject Start Date: 01/27/2015 Summary: One of the top reasons motorists do not stop at Safety Rest Areas is because they do not know what services or amenities they offer. In this implementation project, MnDOT has installed 36 signs advertising the amenities ahead of 21 rest areas along I-35 and I-94, as well as at the Brainerd Lakes Area Welcome Center. This two-year pilot project implements the findings of earlier research and will evaluate the effectiveness of these enhanced advance signs at Safety Rest Areas.
