Recycled Unbound MaterialsStatus: CompleteReport Date: 12/04/2012 Summary: Researchers investigated how the material properties of recycled materials used in aggregate base layers of roads affect pavement performance by conducting laboratory tests on samples from eight states and monitoring newly constructed MnROAD test sections. Results showed that recycled concrete aggregate and recycled pavement material are suitable for unbound base course applications, demonstrating equal or better performance characteristics compared to natural aggregates in terms of stiffness, freeze-thaw and wet-dry durability, and toughness.
