Guardrail Replacement and Maintenance Guidelines (Update 2010 Resource)Status: ActiveProject Start Date: 05/21/2025Subscribe for Updates Summary: Guardrails are critical for reducing the severity of run-off-the-road crashes. By redirecting errant vehicles, they help prevent more serious outcomes by guiding vehicles back onto the roadway. To ensure guardrails remain effective, consistent and proper maintenance is essential. There are several types of guardrails, each with distinct maintenance requirements based on their design and application. In 2010, the Local Road Research Board (LRRB) published the Guardrail Replacement and Maintenance Guidelines, which detailed these requirements. The current project seeks to update that 2010 document to reflect advancements in guardrail technologies and treatments. Final Deliverables: Related Materials: Related Research:
