Impacts of Shared Mobility on Infrastructure usage, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and AccessibilityStatus: CompleteProject Start Date: 08/22/2023 Summary: Effectively incorporating shared mobility options with traditional travel modes and the existing network can improve a municipality’s overall transportation system. Newer shared modes of transportation, such as ride-hailing services, car sharing, bike sharing and scooter sharing, affect accessibility, congestion and emissions. While research has examined the impacts of shared mobility in isolation, this project incorporated shared mobility into traffic modeling to analyze the complex interactions between different travel modes and the entire transportation system. Modeling results will inform local urban planners and policymakers as they work to improve transportation outcomes.
