Development and Integration of Advanced Timber Bridge Inspection Techniques for NBIS

Summary:

Researchers identified state-of-the-art timber bridge inspection techniques and equipment to give local engineers more accurate information about the condition of their timber bridges. This can help extend bridge service life by saving money in replacement costs and reducing detours or weight limit reductions. MnDOT has purchased three sets of inspection equipment for local agencies to borrow, and it will update its bridge inspection training materials to incorporate this information.
